My life has been really full of changes these last few months. The most
unproductive time in my life in terms of writing new pieces, but I have
probably learned more about music and how to write it than in many
previous years combined. My studies with Joshua Fineberg are promising
some very prolific times ahead, and what I would see as a big
improvement in my music. I will be attending Northwestern University
starting in September for my DMA, which is very good news. I look
forward to studying with some of the amazing faculty there. I am
working on a concerto for violin and chamber orchestra and will spend
the summer focusing on that. Aside from that, there will be some small
commissions and projects, but mostly focusing on composing and setting
up a strong momentum, which is really favored by the summer season. My
final recital is coming up, and many pages to be turned in my life. Really looking forward to the future!
detailsNovember 11th, 2011 The
last few months have been very intense and busy. Now studying with
Joshua Fineberg, and going through an intense rediscovery and change of
direction. Currently working on Et soudain for Michael Zaugg's St. Lawrence Choir and their 40th anniversary celebration concert in March, as well as re-writing the Piano Quartet, improving the piano writing in order to have it re-performed this year. Also in the happenings: reading of Mirages (2008) by the BUSO later this month, the CD release of Quatuor Bozzini's performance of Trois à Quatre en Quatre Quatre (2011)
on November 29th, in Montreal, and sketches of a new work for 13
musicians which will eventually become my thesis. Lastly: I was
featured in a new book called Compositeurs Libanais, XXe et XXIe siècles, by
Zeina Saleh Kayali and Vincent Rouquès, published at Séguier. It's in
French, and full of great information about Lebanese composers of the
last hundred-something years.

Just returned from Domaine Forget's New Music Session in Québec, where Sans oublier, mais un peu distrait (2011)
was premiered by the NEM and Jeffrey Stonehouse under their amazing
conductor Lorraine Vaillancourt. The program was really great, and the
other participants were some of the most inspiring people I've met.
detailsA quick look forward, I'm writing a piano piece for my dear friend Martin Karlicek, and will soon begin work on a new piece for the St. Lawrence choir in Montreal for their 40th anniversary concert, on March 24th, 2012. April 8th, 2011 The two Designs in Harmony
concerts in Cambridge and in Montreal were successful! Nice turnout,
talented participants, I look forward to next year's edition! If all
works well, it will be in Boston, Montreal, and New York. Check back
soon for recordings!
